Pronoia sits at km 25.5 of the coastal road in El Placer — far enough from Mahahual to feel like a different world, close enough to remain accessible. The property is beachfront, built directly on the Caribbean, steps from the second-largest coral reef on the planet.

When your group checks in, the entire property is yours. Seven rooms, a private beach, a rooftop, a full restaurant — no other guests, no shared spaces, no compromises. Your schedule, your program, your ceremonies — entirely on your terms.

We've hosted yoga retreats, wellness immersions, corporate off-sites, cacao ceremonies, and groups that simply needed to disappear from the world for a week. We know what it means to support a retreat without getting in the way of it. The team at Pronoia handles everything related to the property — logistics, meals, transfers — so you can stay focused on your group.

The reef is at your doorstep. The jungle starts at the back of the property. The night sky has no light pollution. Mornings here are quiet enough to hear the waves before anyone wakes up.

The Communal Table

Meals are part of the retreat.

The restaurant at Pronoia is built around one long table. It's where meals happen, but also where circles continue, where conversations start, and where the group finds its rhythm together.

Full meal service is available — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — built around fresh, local ingredients. We work with you before arrival to design a menu that fits your program: its nutritional philosophy, its pace, and your group's needs.

We accommodate most dietary requirements. If your retreat has a specific food protocol, let us know early and we'll build the menu around it.

Getting There

The road in is part of the experience.

Pronoia is 25km north of Mahahual along the coastal road — and there's one thing worth knowing before you leave town.

There are two routes. Take the inland asphalt road (purple on the map). It loops slightly away from the coast but gets you here in about 30 minutes on smooth pavement. Do not follow Google Maps — it will route you along the dirt coastal road, which is unpaved and rough.

The drive itself is a slow transition out of ordinary life. Dense Caribbean jungle on both sides, almost no traffic, no commercial signage. By the time you pull in, you're already somewhere else.
